Description
Our Animal & Fur Friends pack contains 20 of the most frequently indicated remedies for minor injuries and ailments. These are remedies that you might reach for if something comes on quickly, you’re waiting to see the vet, or perhaps your animal is having a bit of an emotional time.
These remedies can be used with cats, dogs, horses, goats, cows and birds – really any animal you come across that needs some help. In times past I even taught workshops on using homeopathy with native animals here in Australia. The only creatures I have never treated are fish!
We’ve included a mix of 20 single and combination remedies to give you the broadest cover possible. There will always be remedies that you find you need, but this pack should give you something for most situations you are likely to need at short notice.
We’ve also added a bottle of SOS in drops – our own 21st Century version of Rescue Remedy – a useful addition to your animal pack.
Sometimes in an emergency, eg after a road accident or when a bird hits the window and is dazed, it is hard to give pilules (but pilules have a longer use by). Liquid is easier in these situations to drop in the mouth, on the beak or the head, or anywhere there is skin.
The flyer includes short notes on each of the remedies and some additional suggestions for other useful remedies. There are also some extra notes in the tabs here.
You pick a remedy in exactly the same way for your animal or fur friends as you would for yourself or a loved one. You can read a little more here in a post I wrote a while back.
There are quite a few books available on homeopathy for animals these days, but you may find the Homeopathy for the Home Prescriber Book by Jan Owen a simple and helpful guide.
While I started out treating my own pets nearly 40 years ago, we haven’t had kits for animals in the store for many years! This is mainly due to the stringent regulations around selling products to treat animals. This kit therefore comes with a reminder to always get your animal examined by your veterinarian if they are unwell or have had an accident or injury. An animal’s health can go down hill very rapidly, often without any obvious change in symptoms.
As always if your remedies aren’t working within a sensible timeframe – and this depends on what you are looking at – do seek professional help.
Here’s the flyer which accompanies the kit.

Animals Notes
Dose for remedies is 1 or 2 pilules or a few drops in the mouth, on the nose or the beak, or anywhere there is exposed skin.
See below for how to make a pilule into a liquid remedy.
Most animals don’t mind taking remedies. It doesn’t matter the size of the animal, the dose is the same!
Cats can be more awkward and you may need to make the remedy up in water if you can’t pop in the mouth. How do you give a pilule to a chicken or a wild bird? See below.
To make up as liquid
- Put your pilule in 1/4 glass of water
- Stir vigorously with a teaspoon (this activates the remedy in the water)
- The remedy will not dissolve; the water is now your remedy
- Give 1/2 teaspoon or administer on the points described above
- Repeat for each dose
How often?
If the situation is intense give a dose every 5-10 minutes for up to 5 doses, then spread out to hourly, 2 hourly and 4 hourly as improvement is seen over a few days.
For less intense situations, we suggest giving the remedies 3 or 4 times a day for 3 days, then continuing to reduce as improvement is seen. Doses can be increased to more frequently if required.
If there is no improvement after 5 doses, change your remedy or seek advice from your homeopath or vet.
FAQs
Dosage for Remedies
These notes are a general guide.
Homeopathy is not an exact science and while we can offer general suggestions as to how to give the remedies, each case will be a little different in terms of how often a remedy may be required to bring about improvement.
With homeopathics, because we are working with energy, not substance, we want to give just enough to stimulate the body to do the job. If your remedy works brilliantly with the first dose, you don’t need to repeat unless the symptoms appear to be coming back again.
If you’re not familiar with using homeopathics see the FAQ How much & how often?
Do read the individual directions on each product (both on the label and in the How to Use in the product description) to ascertain whether usage differs to the suggestions here.
Reach out if you’re not sure.
Drops
Our products are made up according to traditional homeopathic pharmacy protocols and include a small amount of pure alcohol as a preservative. You can read the FAQ here on alcohol in remedies.
For newborns, if you do not wish to put the drops in the mouth, you may apply to the soles of the foot or the top of the head. You can also purchase drops and add a spray top to your order, so that you can spray the remedy onto the soles of the feet. The remedy will work just as well whichever way you use it.
Babies under 6 months – 1 drop or 1 spray
Babies 6-12 months – 2 drops or 1 spray
12 months and above – 4 drops
Organic German Sucrose
Give 1 or 2 pilules per dose regardless of age.
Crush between 2 clean teaspoons if you are giving to a baby and you are uncomfortable with giving whole.
Sometimes the pilules can look wet. This is due to the nature of the organic sucrose. The alcohol – which is the remedy applied to the pilules – will evaporate off as you use your remedies. They should not stick together and this does not affect the effect of the remedies.
Homeopathy is about quality, not quantity!
Creams
All our creams are suitable for vegans, due to the way we make them and the based we use.

Tissue Salts
If you have selected a single tissue salt remedy or a combination, the general suggestion is to take three times a day for up to three months (as per Dr Schuessler’s advice). However, we would expect you would see improvement much sooner than this, likely as soon as a couple of weeks. If you have taken for one month with no obvious difference, choose another tissue salt or consult your homeopath.
Bottle Sizes
10g pilules: approximately 110 pilules
30ml drops: approximately 120 doses at 4 drops per dose
50ml drops: approximately 200 doses at 4 drops per doses
