Breastfeeding can raise a number of issues for new mums not only in the early days, but sometimes later on during periods of growth (in the baby) or stress.
Mastitis can be a painful and distressing condition which may benefit from some homeopathic support. The included remedies have been used traditionally over more than a century offering relief to new mums. Long term mastitis can result in blocked ducts and ongoing discomfort so it’s important to jump on the problem as soon as it arises.
While we always recommend a consultation with your homeopath to ensure any remedies are well selected, our Mastitis Support combination contains three traditionally used remedies which are most often indicated for mild mastitis/breast inflammation during breastfeeding.
Ongoing issues with mastitis require constitutional support, ie treatment of the whole person, to build up the system and to reduce the frequency.
Always ensure you see your GP for this condition if there is pain or fever or bub is refusing to feed.
We also have a Lactation Support combination which derives from those homeopathics most indicated to support and enhance milk supply and quality and is another of our top sellers for new mums. It can also help with oversupply and during weaning. We suggest you start taking Lactation Support either just before the birth or just after on a daily basis, then as required when supply seems to drop off.

How to Use
Mastitis can be a painful and distressing condition. You will know fairly quickly if the remedies in the combination are going to be of assistance.
Because the onset of this problem is often rapid, we suggest you take several doses close together initially.
Dose & Frequency
- Start off with 4 drops or 1 pilule every 10 minutes for a maximum of 5 doses if symptoms are intense. If the remedy is going to work you should see some improvement in this time.
- If symptoms start to improve reduce to every hour if the remedy is still required. Do this for one day only.
- Then reduce to 3 or 4 times daily if symptoms are mild but settling.
In homeopathy less is usually more, so taking more doses more often may not help as much as you’d think. If you are seeing some improvement try reducing how often you take the remedy (to allow the system to act under its own steam) and just take as required (ie when symptoms appear again), rather than routinely.
If you are taking multiple doses frequently then the remedy is not working and you should contact your homeopath for a more personalised remedy.

Homeopathy is not an exact science and while we can offer general suggestions as to how to give the remedies, each case will be a little different in terms of how often a remedy may be required to bring about improvement.
With homeopathics, because we are working with energy, not substance, we want to give just enough to stimulate the body to do the job. If your remedy works brilliantly with the first dose, you don’t need to repeat unless the symptoms appear to be coming back again.

Drops
Our products are made up according to traditional homeopathic pharmacy protocols and include a small amount of pure alcohol as a preservative. You can read the FAQ here on alcohol in remedies.
For newborns, if you do not wish to put the drops in the mouth, you may apply to the soles of the foot or the top of the head. You can also purchase drops and add a spray top to your order, so that you can spray the remedy onto the soles of the feet. The remedy will work just as well whichever way you use it.
Babies under 6 months – 1 drop or 1 spray
Babies 6-12 months – 2 drops or 1 spray
12 months and above – 4 drops
Organic German Sucrose
Give 1 or 2 pilules per dose regardless of age.
Crush between 2 clean teaspoons if you are giving to a baby and you are uncomfortable with giving whole.
Sometimes the pilules can look wet. This is due to the nature of the organic sucrose. The alcohol – which is the remedy applied to the pilules – will evaporate off as you use your remedies. They should not stick together and this does not affect the effect of the remedies.

Tissue Salts
If you have selected a single tissue salt remedy or a combination, the general suggestion is to take three times a day for up to three months (as per Dr Schuessler’s advice). However, we would expect you would see improvement much sooner than this, likely as soon as a couple of weeks. If you have taken for one month with no obvious difference, choose another tissue salt or consult your homeopath.
Bottle Sizes
10g pilules: approximately 110 pilules
30ml drops: approximately 120 doses at 4 drops per dose
50ml drops: approximately 200 doses at 4 drops per doses
